Stephen & Damita Duplantis
Stephen and Damita were married on August 17th, 1992, while Damita was serving as active duty Air Force in Colorado Springs, Co. From Colorado they went to Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan where they had their twins Nicholas and Noel.. In 1995 Damita was assigned to Keesler AFB, in Biloxi, MS where two years later, both Damita and Stephen accepted Christ. Damita can remember one of her coworkers constantly witnessing to her prior to getting saved and was very thankful to her for that. Shortly after getting save the couple jumped into youth and children's ministry and Stephen also played in the praise band. Stephen also has an anointing for leading worship- he sings, plays guitar, and drums.
After Mississippi, The Duplantis Family was reassigned to North Pole, Alaska in 1998- where their lives were truly forever changed! While in Alaska, they also had an addition to their family, Andrew! Stephen and Damita were actively involved with Children's and Youth Ministry at the church they attended (NPAG), where they met Pastor Ron and Yolanda Pratt, who later founded This Generation Ministries. Stephen also had a band, For the Love of Christ aka FtLOC, which played at local events and churches. Since leaving Alaska God has allowed them to live many places (meeting some awesome people along the way- you know who you are!), but they both knew in their hearts that one day they would come full circle back to North Pole, Alaska. Before moving back to Alaska, Damita honorably separated from the Air Force in February 2004 and later that year Stephen attended school at Brownsville Rival School of Ministry. He received degrees in Pastoral Studies and Missions and has worked as a Youth Leader, Youth Pastor, Worship Leader and Worship Pastor and Evangelist. Damita's giftings are in Children's Ministry, Intercessory Prayer and Teaching.
Is It Really You God?
Knowing that they were being called back up to Alaska, Stephen and Damita decided to take a giant step of faith! God was speaking to all of the Duplantises through visions and dreams about moving back up to Alaska over the past several years, but in the beginning of 2011 the burden and dreams were overwhelming. They knew Alaska was where they were supposed to be, but how was all of this to happen? The both questioned, "How could we afford such a trip?", "How is Damita going to be able to withstand the cold with her arthritis?", But there was a peace.....you know that peace that God mentions in the bible, the one that surpasses all understanding? And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 "Yes, that peace! We knew without a shadow of a doubt that if we said yes, God would do the rest.....so, we were obedient!” said Damita.
Stephen quit his job in March 2011 as Restaurant Manager at San Destin Resort in FL and they sold everything other than their clothes and a few of Stephen's guitars. In April they rented a small 6 foot U-haul trailer packed their van, stopped in New Orleans for a couple of weeks to visit family before embarking on their exciting eight day journey up to Alaska!
